Inlet air filter, air supply

Dear All;

In our Siemens gas turbine the air pressure source used for the pulsing is from external air compressor discharge, then every time when the pulsing system started, the air consumption increased and risk to plant instrument malfunction and trip the plant, Due to some unforeseen increase in the plant instrument air consumption.

Please advise if we can keep the valve throttled to ensure sufficient air supply to the plant .considering that flushing system was good enough to take care of any increase in DP.

Please advise.

Hi
Without be able to check the system P&IDs that would be difficult to assist you on such issue.

Is that an "new issue "occuring , how about commissioning phase?

Did the EPC/SUPPLIER who designed the plant have been contacted for that?

Did the original design is still keept or modifications have been done already ??

Did the problem occuring recently or unit was operating with it already ...?

Do the unit got such of anti icing ? bleed heating ? just for informations ...

Is this a new event or some problem that you have always had? I've never seen a filter blow down air that comes from the Instrument Air compressor, usually it is a small ,stand alone , compressor or air comes from the running turbine. This looks like a badly designed system, who built it?
