We will be adding 6 more hoppers that will use an allen bradley PLC to our system. We need to have a way to interface the systems together via a comm link and software so that the main ti & siemens systems can control the new hoppers. Do you have any ideas how we can accomplish this?

Thanks.

Hello;

You can try a hardware solution, such as protocol converters that will map Profibus adresses to DeviceNet, for example. See SST, Synergetics, and other manufacturesr. Also, SST makes Allen-Bradley Profibus scanners (slave or master) so you could hook up the A-Bs directly to a Profibus network.

A software solution would involve OPC servers for all networks, and a client application to re

Hi,
It sounds like the easiest way is using opc servers.
I'm quiet sure for each plc (resp each pc/plc interface) is an opc server available.
DX capable opc server are able to talk direct to an other server without an client - so you not even need to programm a client via VB or similar.
Of course opc is not real time, because it uses mostly WinOS.

For S7 interfaces an opc server is available from Systeme Helmholz GmbH ([email protected]).

Hope that helps.
