I was searching for information on converting IR to RS232. I came across the following response to someone's similar question:

>Hi,Hokuyo makes a nice, robust unit for this. It can send the signal by IRover 300m. I've seen it used, and it's quite reliable. I have catalogue info if needed. You can e-mail me directly.

I'd be interested in any information that you have. I'm looking for a device that I can send IR data to and it will convert that data into
RS232. I don't need an IR transmitter, just a receiver.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

You can find a send/received IR in http://www.actisys.com/, every SIR layer device that I find is Send and Received. Another product is from "Phoenix Contact" I not have the web page, but this company have a long range IR transmiter/received for industry used.
