We Have old SCADA system running under iRMX. HDD of Master station is failed, model Maxtor XT1085 85MB, we bought old unit. the HD need low level format and format. we need these files. can you advise me what to do?

 

Generally on old hard-drives, "low-level format" was a routine in the HD controller's EPROM. Old MS-DOS had hooks to run this routines with a formal BIOS call - nice feeling that crashing programs could do that on your behalf ;^)

You'll need to find that routine in your work-station - although you may NOT really require a complex external program to trigger it. Check to see if the computer is "pc-compatible", meaning could it could also run MS-DOS? Not suggesting you change OS, but that would mean the hardware & HD controller's low-level format routines should be in the same locations that any old Maxtor tech notes for PC would indicate.
