ISA Standards

You will all remember the discussion about ISA standards we had a while back. I would like to tell you what the result of that and other discussions were. There were two results. First, we found that instrumentation manufacturers and end user companies were not in the slightest bit interested in contributing to the Instrumentation Standards Foundation. Nobody would even talk to our consultant by phone. So, the Instrumentation Standards Foundation is dead. ISA is looking at establishing another foundation for education and general purposes, but we don't know what the outcome will be. Second, the ISA Executive Board took a major step toward wider dissemination of ISA Standards by establishing a subscription plan for ISA members. Any ISA member will (the program will go into effect sometime between now and April 30) be able to pay an annual subscription fee of $25 US, and have online access to any ISA Standard, for downloading and printing, and using. I strongly encourage you all to support the Executive Board's action by subscribing to the Standards Library as soon as it is available. Non-member prices remain the same.
