JIC Electrical Code

In meetings with upper management the issue of electrical codes came up. I know that industrial machine tools are covered by the JIC Code. I had a copy for many years but have lost it. Can anyone tell me where I can get a new copy of this outdated code?

For machine tools in the US look at NFPA std 79. It includes the color code you've been talking about.

Many years ago JIC went out of business. Most of the old JIC was incorporated into NFPA79 (much of it word for word) along with some much needed revisions to reflect the widespread use of PLCs.

You can buy it from the NFPA web site http://www.nfpa.org, the same place you might go to nuy a copy of the NEC (aka NFPA70).

The JIC body was dissolved, but the standard lives on as NFPA 79 from the National Fire Protection Association, the body that publishes the National Electrical Code, otherwise known as NFPA 70. Their website is
http://www.nfpa.org. Buy something from them and you'll never be able to lose track of them again, even if you want to. ;-) NFPA 79 is a pretty small standard and won't cost you too much. You could also look at UL508A. I also understand that there is a new article in the 2005 NEC on
industrial control panels.
