Laser Sensor

Hi,

I need some help.

We are using an Omron E3NC-SH250H laser sensor together with an amplifier E3NC-SA0 and PLC NJ3 Sysmac (ethercat network). The range of the sensor is 35mm - 250mm. We need 10mm - at least 300mm, but it seems that Omron can't supply these, at least not with same size and quite similar price. The size of the sensor can't be too much bigger than this one.

Is there anyone out there who can suggest a sensor?

You could use a Banner Engineering Q3XTBLD-Q8. That has a 300mm sensing range.

Moderator's Note: this is not a promotion written by some one who works for Banner Engineering. Honest, you don't have to email the moderators and complain about us promoting a product long after a message has been posted.

Presumably we're way too late to help on this old question, but
here's a (non-exhaustive) list of sensor manufacturers who have products that might work.

Balluff: BOS008P, possibly others

Banner: as previously mentioned, plus perhaps some other models

ifm: O5D

Keyence: LR-T series

Leuze Electronic: HRTL or PRKL, possibly more

Pepperl+Fuchs: OBT300

Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley: Bulletin 45BPD

Sick: so many options I couldn't figure out which one to start with.

TR Electronic: di-soric LAT

Tri-Tronics: SmartEye SmartDot

Wenglor: Lots of options

The real take-away, I think, is that our sensor options have exploded in the last few years. Generally, it's not going to be technical issues that determine the supplier, but rather the relationship you have with them.
