Our station has to pay an extra water consumption cost of 3000 US dollars/month due to an un-identified water leak in a 12"dia, 1.5km long buried water pipe, and the water pressure/leak rate are about 500kpa and 4cu.m/hr respectively. Anyone can provide method or share his/her experience in locating a water leak at a buried water pipe?

A leaking pipe makes a noise which is distinctive. There are inspection companies
who specialise in locating leaks in buried pipes using the sound measurements that are transmitted along the pipe. I suggest you ask search around for one in your area. It may be worth reviewing the pipe condition generally. If corrosion is the
cause of the leak it might also be worth gettting some advice on corrosion protection.
