Hi experts;

I want to know what is the effect of Low heating value of natural gas on fuel flow consumption and performance of gas turbine. If LHV is 20610 BTU/Lbm and if it decreases 17100 BTU/Lbm is fuel consumption increases or decreases?

Second I have the following data what is the ACFM flow through the orifice Pipe inside diameter = 2.07
Orifice dia = 0.965
Differential pressure across the orifice = 132" Water column
Gas pressure on Upstream = 182
Gas temperature = 61 deg f
Pipe is Mild steel
SG of Gas = 0.6261
LHV = 17100 BTU/LBm or 823.4 BTU/SCF

Please help me in this issue.
I am very thankful
Regards

Assuming baseload operation, gas turbine output will slightly increase due to increase in mass flow in proportion to a decrease in LHV of fuel, since GT will take more fuel to reach new firing temperature set point.

Assuming 14.73 psia base pressure and 60 deg F base temperature, your data results in 48.55 ACFM (at actual flowing conditions) or 662.6 SCFM (at base reference conditions)
