Hi All

As I have mentioned here and on the automation list, the handwriting is on the wall.

Check out what SquareD (aka Groupe Schnieder, Modicon Telemechanique) is doing

I Predict they will find this so vastly superior to the alternatives that they will at least
consider expansion of the concept.

Regards

The use of the internet to disseminate power information to departments within a manufacturing facility is good. However, I fail to see what's worth hooping and howlering about the choice of Linux. Whether Linux or Windows CE V3.0, the end result is similar. Linux is "free" but CE V3.0 is suppose to cost about $10 ... and that's with the development horse power of Microsoft behind it. Also, CE V3.0 supports a MUCH larger spectrum of CPUs.

Furthermore, if I dare to be so bold as Jim Pinto in making predictions, I think that many companies like Red Hat, whose main product is consulting and development services without a product that they "manufacture" and sell at good margin will eventually face the real prospect of realizing that their offering is labor intensive and does not offer the profit potential of "manufactured" products. So, many such companies will fall on very hard times...
