LONWORKS Interface

I work for a company currently engineering a project which requires our SCADA system to interface to LONWORKS to collect metering data (analogues) only. Our SCADA system communicates using MODBUS RTU and therefore we need to source a device which will provide the LONWORKS interface and protocol convert. Does anyone have any suggestions to what we could use?

Hi Adrian

Weidmuller Eurolon AB had a DIAloc module part number WEIR03100107 that did Modbus to LONWorks. Haven't used it and not sure if it's still available but you could contact them to see.

Dear Adrian Moore,

you could use a SCADA package as middleware software. Lookout supports OPC servers for which you can find one from Lonworks. Lookout also can be configured to support Modubs RTU as a Modbus device. In the program you will connect Lonworks analogs to Modbus RTU analogs and there you are - you have a protocol converter. You could run this software on any Windows NT platform including the same one you are running your current SCADA solution on.

hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Todd Johnson
