We are looking for a guided wave device, (cable) for a 1200' measurement. Pressure devices have been problematic at this length. 1/4" cable diameter and weight is preferable. Strength of cable, lack of needing breather tube, and ease of installation are benefits. Will be installed in 1 1/2 PVC conduit. Submersible pump is VFD driven so harmonics and EMF an issue. Any one know of such a product? Pls advise. Thank you

 

I don't know if you'll find a guided wave device with this span. Most guided wave devices have a maximum span of 100' in solids, 200' in high dielectric constant liquids.

If you haven't checked out Paroscientific for pressure sensing at great depth, you should. http://www.paroscientific.com They advertise spans up to 700 meters, so 1200' should not be a problem. Paroscientific has been doing depth measurement for oceanographic applications, oilfield and other hydrology applications longer than anybody else, seeing as how Jerry Paros invented the damn thing (the quartz differential pressure transducer).

what are you trying to measure?? Details. Perhaps guided wave is not the solution. Laser?
