Hello folks,
I've been tasked with purchasing an enclosure then assembling a simple control system. This cabinet will house 24vdc, 120vac, 12vdc & 480vac power sources. I wanted to create a simple ladder logic diagram so that I can put my thoughts down on paper, come up with a BOM before placing a large order with Automation Direct.
I've downloaded Wondershare Edrawmax as a trial version just as an experiment. Please let me know if there's a better application for this that can be installed on a PC that hopefully doesn't have $$$ for an annual subscription. Again, there is no PLC in this enclosure, just simple wiring with switches, lights, powering of 24vdc and 12vdc field devices, etc.
My client will eventually move toward LabView as their preferred method of controlling field I/O and using the same as an HMI. My background is in Siemens, AB, and some of the smaller PLCs (from 20 years ago) so I need to download and learn LabView if I want to support my client. They're farming out all LabView programming to a third party in FL and my company is in NM so they have no local support, other than me.
Cheers.
