Howdy! I'm new here. I was wondering if there was any documentation available that gives an overview of the development and software? I was
looking around the linuxplc site, but I didn't come across anything that was a brief synopsis/summary of the project. Thanks.

Actually (and surprisingly) the MM does have documentation. It's not entirely up-to-date, but almost all of it is still valid. It's in the
doc/smm directory in the CVS, or via the web at

http://www.linuxplc.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/~checkout~/doc/smm/description.txt
and
http://www.linuxplc.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/~checkout~/doc/smm/tutorial.txt

Unfortunately, it's only the documentation for the MM interface; it doesn't document the config file format (currently fluid), nor how the MM actually fits in with the rest of the linuxPLC (it's basically the bit in the middle that joins everything together), nor what the rest of the linuxPLC even is.

Windows is not popular. Windows is *widespread*. Linux is popular.
