I want to know if someone has used magnetic flow meter in crude oil flow measurement.

hi buboyjayo
i use ABB Magnetic flow meter but i use it for water application so i think it maybe can use for crude oil flow measurement so im giving you now their website and you can ask them
http://www.abb.com

No, because it won't work. Magnetic flowmeters require a minimum conductivity of 5-20 uS/cm and crude oil is not conductive.

Please don't do it. That would be a terrible mis-application for an electromagnetic flowmeter.
The operating principle of magnetic flowmeters is based upon Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction,
" It states that a voltage will be induced in a conductor moving through a magnetic field

Here, I am copying some stuff (not my own) for your from http://www.flowmeterdirectory.com/flowmeter_electromagnetic.html . Please read it! I can't paste pictures here so you will have to look at the link yourself to understand how it works

It is not possible to measure crude with a magmeter.
We have good experience with an ultrasonic flowmeter from Krohne tyoe UFM3030.
