Do instruments exist to measure Hardness Total in line, for water process
with hardness total of 2000 mg/L Ca & Mg as CaCO3?

The purpose of the measurement is to control the scale in lines of water
process in the minerals processings.

Too, does a relationship exist with conductivity?.

Thanks

Yes. Several companies make hardness analyzers. Checkout www.hach.com.

No. Conductivity can be used as a measure of TDS, but not hardness.

a quick search on the 'net yielded this one:

Im sure there are many more. Good places to look for more information on water testing for various constituents are the oceanographic institutions, e.g.

http://www.whoi.edu

Look for various studies using sensors measuring conductivity, temperature, pressure, pH, etc. in sea water. These sensors are built to be quite rugged and reliable. Some particular ones I remember are Seabird Electronics and Wetlabs Instruments.

I am also looking for an online hardeness measurement. Hach offers an online hardness but the measurement range is only up to 10 mg/l (which is not good enough for our application).

Does anybody know about any other online hardness measuring devices for the high range ( up to 1500 mg/l total hardness).

thanks
