While troubleshooting a number of mechanically-atomized frame 5's with Mark VI and VIe (plus UnivFuelSys) upgrades I finally got the unit to fire and stay fired almost reducing opacity (smoke) by 50% by tuning the break-points and FSKSU's 7-8% above CSPEC/original VCE. In the process I became aware that the fuel nozzles I was using are the older-style "solid" cup nozzles.
I came accross another customer who handed me a the "newest" style nozzle which has about 16 holes and slots drilled into it in a tangential direction and a "depressed" nozzle ejector face (its not flush with the nozzle head but actually "sunk in"). I got an almost smokeless startup and a great FSNL time thanks to new breakpoints and maxed out Temp-array. Only catch is I can't find a part number or vendor for this "latest style" mechanical atomized nozzle!!!! Is there a Hitachi or GE part number for this nozzle style? I think I have a perfect match for a clean, almost-no-smoke lightoff in a residential area and the neighbors love it as the previous Mark I was a heavy smoker. Your input is greatly appreciated.
