Mitsubishi computer link module settings when using Citect SCADA HMI

I am in the process of replacing a proprietary HMI program with the Citect SCADA HMI software.

The Citect is supposed to communicate with a Mitsubishi PLC, model number A1SCPU-S1. There is an exisiting A1SJ71UC24R4 computer link module. The card is wired to a computer that is presently running a proprietary software package. The required RS-485/RS-232 converter is wired between the PLC and the computer, as required by Mitsubishi.

I cannot establish communication with the Citect software. I think the problem may be that the mode setting on the front of the computer link module may not be in the right position. Right now it is set at 8, which is "type 4 dedicated protcol mode." A Mitsubishi technician told me he "thought" it should be set to "no protocol" mode, while Citect's knowledgebase says it should be set to mode 5, which is "type 1 dedicated protocol mode."

Has anyone successfully set up a Citect HMI to use the Mitsubishi computer link module? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
