I have a requirement to connect together up to 5 Mitsubishi FX PLCs and one A1S processor.

2 of these PLCs also have HMI Panels connected to the processor ports.

I have tried contacting the vendors but have had no response.

The communication will be for passing of alarm and process flow information between each PLC.

These FX PLCs are the old type FX and not the newer FX1/2 so the hardware options may be limited.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Hi Paul,

If memory serves - the old FX have RS232 capability (you could convert to RS485/422 externally). - which limits your options somewhat. To be certain, what is the model no. of the FX. (1s,1n,2n,etc)

As I already indicated the FX PLCs are the original FX series (ver 3.30) if memory serves. They were manufactured prior to the introduction of the newer FX1/N or the FX2N etc.

 

for the old type FX, you can use Melsecnet/Mini metwork.
In each FX series plc add FX-16NT-S3. In the A1S PLC, add AJ71PT32-S3.

Sorry - yes you did. I believe you will be limited to serial transmission (RS232). The real complication would be establishing a network topology. Check this site out..
