Dear Mk6 experts,

ours is Fr5 Mk6 control turbine.

I, found during certain fault diagnosis, that Master Reset (L86MR1) execution signal also goes to slot#1 VCMI (R-S-T) and slot10 VTUR card for use as Master Reset and suicide reset.

What is the necessity to go for this reset whenever we execute Master reset for any process alarms. Sometimes this causes tripping of turbine even though there is NO faults in VCMI and VTUR card. Can we disable the signal at configuration page of VCMI, in order that the MR signal does not go the VCMI and VTUR. Will there be any harm?

kindly share ur views. Thanks..

I'm very surprised that you got a turbine trip by only doing a Master Reset. What was the cause of the trip?

The Master Reset must go the VTUR to clear any Primary trips. Do you think that it was a suicide reset that caused the trip? If you had a reg. suicide you must have had some kind of Alarm?

What were you trying to clear when you made the Master reset?

Dear Mr.Bob johnston,

We have already have a problem in slot#5 VSVO of "T" for the GCV. (Failure of the excitation Voltage thro VSVO card.) and "bit error" at the back plane of VCMI at slot#1 for the "S" controller. However turbine continues running. After turbine is normal stopped for CI inspection, and then started, we had the problem in Auto Synchronising and Alarm L86AS (synch. lock out) appeared which calls for the execution of MR to unlatch the alarm. during which turbine tripped without any indication. Trip history does not reflect any event OR alarm, except the usual alarms "inter valve Press low and Flame failure comes ON after any trip. To investigate the cause of the trip, turbine started and taken to FSNL and with No process alarm and VCMIs of R_S_T are OK. turbine tripped again while executing Master Reset. This time MR signal is directed only to reset the Slot#1 and slot#10 of R-S_T- controller and "suicide" of any other card and to reset the system.

Pls advice, how to "disable" this MR signal going to the a/m cards at the configuration page of VCMI (other than forcing L86MR1 to "0" only for the VCMI cards) as we have "Manual reset" push buttons provided in VCMI cards, to reset VCMI,if necessary. Thanks...
