Is there any software that can be used to disply the MKVI sequence like MKVSTUDIO to display the CSP file for MKV sequence?. If yes would like to know what is that software and what file to be copied from MKVI control system to see the sequence?.

Hope some one could give me a clear reply.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

The way to "view" the sequencing of a Mark VI is by using Toolbox. Or, by printing the sequencing from Toolbox.

There is no Mk V Studio-like application for Mark VI sequencing. There is only the .m6b (Mark VI binary) file, and the only way to read the contents of that file is by using Toolbox.

There is no CSP file for Mark VI. There is only the .m6b file, which contains all of the necessary information in one file instead of tens of files like the Mark V (Hooray!). The "viewer" for the contents of the .m6b file is Toolbox.

You could "print" the Mark VI sequencing using a program like PDF995 which produces a .pdf file of a source document. That file can be viewed with a .pdf file viewer or printed to hard copy.

But, and you haven't really said if you want to do this or not, if you want to see the "live" dynamic sequencing for a Mark VI, the only way to do this is with Toolbox.

Mark V Studio was written by an extremely intelligent GE engineer who likely had too much time on his hands. It wasn't done as an assignment for his employer or a project that he was paid for; it was done as a personal project, a kind of "challenge" (can we say geek? but in a very good way!). Mark V Studio is an excellent program, which could have been adopted for use by GE, but was more than likely only grudgingly allowed to exist.

Toolbox can be installed on just about any PC. I warn you, though, that it's not easy, and doesn't always work and it is *not* a well-behaved MS-Windows application (some versions are better than others). Newer versions of Toolbox also seem to require a hardware dongle to operate or even to install.

Whenever I tried to install Toolbox on a laptop, it seemed to work sometimes and not others, and there wasn't even much support in GE for trying to do this on their company laptops as I recall.

The next thing you'll be asking is: I succeeded in installing Toolbox, but I can't get it to talk to the Mark VI. How do I do that?

That's one of those things that you'll be on your own with. Too many possible problems and liabilities to touch that one with even a ten-meter pole!

"Print" a copy of the sequencing to a .pdf file, and then you can view it on any PC. You could even print a hard copy. It's not colorful and it certainly wouldn't be animated with live data, but it's better than nothing.

The toolbox can be loaded on about any machine that has the basic windows requirements. The issue is licensing, we all load toolbox on our other work related machines, but it’s only licensed for your site engineering work station or HMI.

YES It can be loaded on a laptop and will work fine. eTCSS typically has the install files you seek. (along with many other tools not needed to view *.m6b files)

Good Luck ;)

eTCSS is the designation given to the CD used to distribute software for use with Speedtronic control systems. One is usually supplied with each HMI that has Toolbox or TCI/CIMBRIDGE or NTP (the GE software products used with Mark V or Mark VI or Mark VIe Speedtronic control systems).

>sorry but what's eTCSS??<

It's the disk left by GE that has you "turbine control software" (or should have been left)

eTurbine Control System Solutions CD
eTCSS CD
Interface to Turbine Control (TCI)
