MKVe HMI Commands Not Responding and Unit Is Running

I'm troubleshooting a MKVe with Toolbox ST. No pushbutton commands are being sent to the control system from any HMI. All HMIs were rebooted and still same issue. Data on the EGD appears to be coming in as expected.

Can anyone come up with some possible issues and troubleshooting actions to take? Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

Are these Windows 7 computers? Can you force any points? Are you logged in as the proper username, maint or admin? Sounds like a credentials/authorization issue.

- We faced the same problem many times, but the problem could be solved by restarting the Windows and opening the cimplicity again.

-Issued a complaint to GE and they send their TA and upgraded the toolbox version.

-The problem disappeared up to now.

When did you experience the "same problem"? From the original commissioning of the control system? After some time had expired since the original commissioning of the control system?

Was it on a Mark Ve? Because Mark Ve's use ToolboxST, not Toolbox. Mark VI turbine control panels use ToolboxST (newer or upgraded Mark VIs can use some versions of ToolboxST, but not all).

Specifically, what problem in Toolbox did upgrading solve? Some problem with the EGD? Some problem with the runtime software in the Mark VI? Because Toolbox is not required for transmitting data and commands from the HMI to the Mark VI and back--only for configuring the Mark VI and HMI to transmit data and commands.

It would be most helpful and informative if you would describe precisely the problem(s) you experienced, the equipment the problem(s) were experienced on, and what "upgrading Toolbox" was necessary to solve the problem(s). There are too many unexplained, and conflicting, points in your post to be of help for this problem--unless they are clarified.

To the original poster, have you been able to resolve the problem? Because borellimd's post is the most likely cause given the information you provided. If you're certain you have logged in using the proper login with the proper permissions to send commands, then are you certain someone hasn't changed the permissions for the login you are using? Or has someone compressed variables in ToolboxST and then not completed all the necessary steps to make sure all of the nodes (Mark Ve, HMIs, EXs, etc.) have been properly updated?

GE does NOT document the steps which must be followed when someone makes changes to ToolboxST files in order to get the changes into all of the project nodes. So, if someone's been mucking with ToolboxST is it possible to revert to a previously known good configuration?

Please write back to let us know how you are faring in resolving this problem!
