You can use the MARC Omnii-Comm or Multii-Port to perform this conversion. Check the web site here http://www.miille.com/PCds.htm for data sheets on both products. Contact me directly if you have any questions. [email protected]
FieldServer Technologies has the FS-B4010-01 with multiple serial ports which can be loaded with Modbus RTU & Modbus ASCII, master and slave are available on both Modbus protocols. The entry level FS-B4010-01 has a 1000 point capacity which can be upgraded electronically to 20 000 points. Have a look at www.fieldserver.com for more product information.
From a previous message - Calta (www.calta.com) has a box named PLC09 (http://www.calta.com/plc09.htm) which they claim "The unit can also convert ASCII to RTU protocol". I have no opinion on Calta - just quoting them.
Meir Saggie.
SIXNET offers a unit that has 1 Ethernet port, 1 RS232 port, and 1 RS485 port. Each one of the serial ports can be configured for Modbus ASCII or RTU, in slave or master mode. Therefore, one serial port can be configured to act as a Modbus ASCII master and poll the AMI-6000. The other serial port can be configured as a Modbus RTU slave to be interrogated by your Modbus RTU master. The Ethernet port would allow for future high-speed networking. Please go to http://www.sixnetio.com/html_files/products_and_groups/etgtst2.htm for details.
You can use our ProLinx Gateway 4102-MCM4 module to accomplish this. The module provides 4 serial ports, each of which can be configured as either Modbus ASCII or Modbus RTU, Master or Slave. Each port can also be configured to support RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485. More information on this module can be found at the following page: http://www.prolinxgateways.com/products/4102.html
