Modbus Register Translator/Device Emulator

We have legacy equipment in the field that is being replaced by newer equipment with an expanded (and therefore different) Modbus register map. We have one PLC network that is very old and difficult to reprogram, so they want us to just make our new devices "pretend" to be the old ones. We're looking at buying some $1500 PLCs to do the trick with some custom programming, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions (preferably an off-the-shelf device) that you can use and just tell it to pass-through information "register XXXX is now register XXXX, coil YYYY is now YYYY, etc."

Thanks and Regards,
Jeff

We make 2 products that can do this. Our XLTR-200 serial gateway supports 2 RS485 ports and one RS232 port, each of which can be independently configured for Modbus RTU master & slave protocols. Our ETH-200 supports the same ports plus ethernet for Modbus/TCP.

You can (for example) configure one of the ports to act as a Modbus master and retrieve the existing information (wherever it resides in the memory map). Then, these same points can be assigned different holding register indexes, and be accessed by a PLC on another port configured as a Modbus slave.

Gents,

Thank you very much for your replies, I'll look into both series of products. This looks like good news!
