I'm developing a Modbus slave device and am in the process of selecting a microcontroller. Would anyone have CPU loading/memory specs for running a Modbus slave protocol stack or recommendations on what microcontroller families would be good for this application? Would anyone know of any open source C code, or programming expamples available for the stack?

Hi Karl,

A simple PIC microcontroller would do. Microchip family of PIC16C5x.

 

I don't suppose you would have an example written already, would you?

I do some work with the 16C6x line, and am looking mostly for academic reasons, but might be able to make something out of it eventually!
