I have to restart a production line using a Modicon 584 (1600+ I/O) and a Modicon 684. Can these PLCs be connected to a PC? If yes, what is the interface (if needed) and software used? Or is P190 programmer the only way?

I will appreciate off-list replies to as @ neda. net

Hi,

To program the 684 PLC you need the Taylor 484 software and a J470 adapter. You can buy it from Schneider Electric service department, it comes from the US. Run only in true DOS, we use with MSDOS 6.22 operating system. The 584 PLC could be programmed with Modsoft with a special add-on.

Best regards!

I've gotten by with an old DOS program called MODSOFT ver. 2.31. I doubt it is available anywhere today. Connect using serial port cable, pin 2 to 3, 3 to 2, 5 to 5, jumper 4 & 6, 7 & 8, shield on 1, none on 9.
