Modicon M340 modem connectivity

I'm having some issues connecting to the Modicon M340 PLC via dial-up US Robotics 33.6 fax modem. I can connect to the controller via Unity software, and I can transfer a program, but the transfer doesn't complete until the software times out. An error message shows up saying something about "PLC didn't return a ReadyStatus". Has anybody encountered this issue?
