Currently I am investigating the possibility to use NAS (Network Attached
Storage) and SAN (Storage Area Network) for storage of SCADA configuration
and historical data. I would like to know if anybody has experience with
these storage mechanisms. What are the pro's and con's of NAS and SAN
compared to each other and compared to traditional storage on an internal
disk or an external attached disk. Where the latter could be a raid
system.

We tried using a quantum Snap Server(NAS) as a file server for retrival and logging of bacth data to spreadsheets and databases.

Retrieval, I find, is much slower on these devices.
