We recently bought a an ascii 140 esi 062 010 module from modicon to perform the task of receiving ascii data from a spectrometer, which outputs data in text format, thru a db-25 pin rs-232 port. I was having problems following the manual that modicon provides. They sort of don't go over the hyperterminal software to much, which should help you simulate a message to the ascii module. This is where I have a problem, I have done according to manual as to simulate a message from hyperterminal, I have checked my rs-232 cable, and I still don't get data into my registers that are designated for storage in PLC. Could someone go over the basic steps for the simulating sending data to this particular module using Hyperterminal, which is recommended by modicon. The analyzer will only send data, and won't receive data, so I'm only interested in simulating data to the module. I think my problem lies in me not configuring hyperterminal properly.
