9-pin NULL modem:

1,6 - 4
2 - 3
3 - 2
4 - 1,6
5 - 5
7 - 8
8 - 7

pin 1 and 6 should be connected together at each end and then connected to pin 4, this means you need 8 wires for the cable.

It might be enough to use a simplified version where only pin 2,3 and 5 are used, wired as above.

Be aware that there are MANY types of "null-modem" cables. The TX and RX are always crossed, but some cross DTR and DSR, others short them together, or pull them high (actually low: -12v is a logic ONE), and so on. If you use a
"standard" one, it may work or it may not, depending on how the software at each end use the handshaking signals like DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, etc.
