Dear experts,

I am working on project (Power Automation) trying to connect a SCADA console to an Siemens eRTU using the IEC 60870-5-101/104 protocol.
the e-rtu is already on site with the modules (Siemens Module, MCP/XC2).

we will be connecting the Scada real-time software with the siemens e-rtu via Matrikon opc server for iec 60870-5-101/104.

on site , no hmi or any display for the e-rtu on site:
the real-time power management software will be the scada/display...

my question is:

1.will the opc server brows the available opc tags in the e-rtu or new tags will be created?

any other inputs from you guys will be appreciated.

The MatrikonOPC Server for IEC 60870-5 doesn't browse for tags. It will however, browse for tags (aliases) you have created in the OPC Server. I recommend consulting Appendix B in the MatrikonOPC Server for IEC 60870 User’s Manual on how to use Aliases.
