Optimal Control to Eeduce CO2 Emission

Hi all,

I am currently working on a Simulink Model of a normal gasoline engine in Matlab for my FYP. My aim is to reduce the CO2 emission of that engine. Currently I thought of using MPC for this issue. However, I have very limited knowledge on this field and I would like to learn more. Is there any other more suitable algorithm for this task?
