I am designing an AC powered (120V) three-phase BLDC motor controller for blender. I need an over-current protection circuit to insure that the IGBT/MOSFET would never be damaged even when the motor starts directly. The resistance of single phase of the motor is about 1 ohm. And the rated current is about 5A.

Another problem I want to solve is that how can I improve the power factor in a very simply way due to the limitation of the total cost.

Any suggestion would be very appreciated!
