i am assuming that the 300 micro has a mini din socket and the cable 1761-cbl pom2 ser c this same cable is used with the logix 1000 plc now the df1 driver used in rs linx needs to know what com port to look at say com 3 dh 485 is a different argument it has been noted that a reference to a pic driver is necessary. So now i am confused the df1 driver wont let you configure the com port as panel builder has already laid claim to the com port 3 already so auto configuring is not possible and for that matter its not possible to sync the com ports from panel builder to rs linx.

So the question is what do i need to do to get my laptop to up load the micro300 program off the unit the cable is good am using a USB to serial adapter cable and that works well now its the protocol it looks as though that dh485 is the answer. set up clues anything guys , thanks in advance.

I'm at home and don't have access to my PB32 right now, but there are several ways to connect PB32 to the micro. One is direct connection. I have used it before, but as I recall you need to know how the port in the Micro is configured and set up your end to match.

I generally choose the RSLinx option. You may have to shut down PB32 to release the COM port, then, with the cable connected, do an autoconfigure in RSLinx. Then, in PB32, use RSLinx to navigate to the micro.
