I have a need to provide a panel mounted USB connector that is sealed from the elements when not in use. Has anyone come across a means of protecting the connector when not in use such as a spring loaded cover etc or ideally an IP65 or greater rated assenbly.

Try Grace Engineered Products, Inc. Their WWW site shows USB as an option. I have used their DH+ units before, and their products seem very nice.

Check out Lumberg - "www.lumberg.com":http://www.lumberg.com . They just came out with a pile of USB stuff, I believe they have bulkhead connectors.

 

You should be able to find a weatherproof receptacle cover at your local hardware store. That should work fine.
