We have installed a 100m laser sensor from Schneider at our tunnel dryer, for detecting whether there is product at the tunnel floor. The length of the tunnel is about 40m.

This sensor did not work because of dust and humidity in the tunnel.

When we run the blower, the laser light moves itself left and right and up and down.

Anybody have info?

40m is a long distance! Laser is the only reliable sensor to detect that far. If you have reflective dust or dust that is so thick the laser can not burn through it than you may need to look at other methods of detection but you will need to be closer. Schneider has an Ultrasonic sensor technology that has a 8m range but you need to be careful with it too. Ultrasonic sensors are affected by temperature radiants and rushing air. See SM900 series at US site: http://www.sesensors.com/content/EN/products/model.asp?model=SM900

It may do better in your dust and humidity than the laser. What is the target you need to detect and why are you trying to detect it from so far away? Talk to your local sensor specialist or PAE from Schneider to see if there is another way to go about detecting your application.

We will detect, whether something(products) is fall down on the floor of the drying oven. If yes, machine must be stopped automatically and people must clean the floor to avoid coolision between the conveyer and the product at the floor.

The oven width is 1,5m and the distance between floor and conveyer tray is 20cm.

Scneider can not give us another solution. We will study the siemens's products.
