Hi all,

By way of introduction...I'm one of the A-B centric (eccentric?) folks with approx 20 yrs experience on models from 1774 through to PLC5. I've watched the discussions with interest for the past few weeks, wondering where to jump in. I picked this topic.

I think that the end result of this project should be capable of running on a system made from commonly available boards in a passive backplane, without a keyboard, screen, or (rotating) disk. The typical PLC has its
"operating system" in ROM and all of user memory (data and program) in battery-backed RAM. For wide applicability, I think we need to provide
similar attributes.
