I have a project where GE Fanuc 9070 PLC will communicate to a NT based HMI through ethernet. On the same LAN I need to have a AlphaVMS based HMI which can directly connect to PLC or connect to NT based HMI and collect Data if no standard driver available. What connection method available between NT and AlphaVMS. (ODBC? OPC?)
Instead of AlphaVMS if I choose Unix do I have more choice?

in the future you can use directly OPC, since products will be available that supports DCOM and Web Services. But for now - have a look on the web sites that provide DCOM-Java converters
