I have been designing PLC panels for a number of years now using Autocad. It gets easier over time once u build up your own library so you can drag and drop, so to speak. I don't know what panel manufacturer you are using but i highly recommend Rittal. Their site have AutoCAD drawings for every panel and also include the back plate which is great to ensure you are laying out the panel correctly.

 

I too use visio. Microsoft visio is a great tool for any kind of Network or pivot diagrams.

Sir, I m using AutoCAD Electrical 2011 from last year, but enable to explore all the commands, I m unable to draw wiring in this CAD, as well as unable to update page no. automatically in title sheet.

If u have any information or any manual, course material regarding AutoCAD Electrical then pls let me know.

DraftSight is a great free CAD program. I use it for PLC schematics and panel drawings. The only command I can't seem to track down in DraftSight is RevCloud...

 

Agree on DraftSight. My personality is such that I'm always picking off-the-wall alternatives to the main stream, so my recommendation may not mean that much. But my boss uses AutoCAD far more than I do, and is much more resistant to change, and HE is the one moving everybody to DraftSight from AutoCAD LT.

I can't find RevCloud for Draftsight either. Did you ever find a RevCloud for Draftsight or does anyone know of a RevCloud for Draftsight?

 

I have used AutoCAD Electrical since 2000. I just started using 2011. I tried the publish to multi-page pdf and it worked the 1st time around. This has been a long time coming.
