PLC update

I want to update my old Modicon 984 685E PLC with redundancy to the new version. The logic program is done by Proworx Plus in DOS. I must reserve the old program and remote I/O modules to use after updating. Does anyone know how I update the hardware? I can open the program (by Proworx Plus) in Proworxk nxt, but cannot open it in Proworx 32. Why? Can I open the program in Concept software? How to do it?

Sounds like you opened it with Proworx Nxt (which is compatible with Proworx Plus). If you've got it where you can open it with Proworx nxt,(remember the path to it) close the program out and then use the import fuction in Proworx 32. It will convert it to a Proworx 32 program.

You can't just open it with 32, you have to import. This function will convert it to a Proworx 32 program.

Once you get that done, you should be able to open the program with Proworx 32, go to configuration, go to change controller type and change to your new type controller (any type 984 and most Quantums(assuming the new controller has = or > memory allocation.)

I don't think the old ladder logic stuff (Proworx Plus, Proworx nxt or Proworx 32 is compatible with concept. I don't use concept, but if it's like the new IEEE Unity pro, it want be compatible with the old stuff. Modicon will convert (for a fee) to anything for you.

It is possible to import 984LL (Modsoft or Proworx NxT or Proworx 32) into a 984LL section in Concept. You can run this section in conjunction with the five (5) IEC languages. As for running 984LL in Unity... just wait until later this year...
