Is there anyone out there that has had any experience with installing automation in a radioactive environment where the equipment would be possibly exposed to gamma and xrays? Are there any products or organizations that build/develops gamma & X-ray protection for electronics??

Thanks,

I worked in radiation sterilization for a while and can tell you that very little survives for long when exposed to high doses of gamma rays.

Ionizing radiation destroys the plastics first and foremost. Even mechanical limit switches must be chosen carefully and protected with thick metal shields.

Best to keep as much as possible as far as possible from the radiation source.

Good Luck.
