Can gas turbine that driving a centrifugal compressor run while compressor trip? Is there a coupling between the turbine shaft and a compressor shaft? For example, if there is high high level in the compressor suction drum, normally compressor shall trip. Does also turbine should trip or not.

For solar gas turbine, we have Gas producer, Power turbine and the centrifugal Compressor. what happen if high high level in suction drum? Do GT will trip or only Compressor?

 

A trip or Emergency stop of any machinery is an action which needs the machine to be unloaded quickly and completely. GT is coupled to the CC via a coupling or Gear box in almost all the cases. So the GT has to be tripped with every compressor trip cause in order to stop the machine quickly.

Any disturbance in the process parameters should not necessarily cause a trip of compressor. We can have other sequences like unloading or load inhibit etc. The details of these actions should be clear in Cause and Effect and P&ID documents of your plant.

This means GT must trip for any compressor trip, but at same time you are also writing some contradicting statement. "any disturbance in the process parameters should not necessarily cause a trip of compressor." I think you mean here the GT not the compressor, Am I correct?
