I have problem and I cannot find the fault. PLC (S5-115U) stops 5 to 10 times a day and then restarts after 10 seconds. I used step5 ISTACK but it doesn't show any fault. Has anybody got ideas how to find problem????
That sounds a lot like a power supply problem. I've replaced two that were doing that. The good news is that Automation Direct may have the (Koyo)PLC new, OTS.
In reply to Curt Wuollet: The S5 is not related to the Koyo PLCs. Siemens sold Koyo PLCs under the Siemens brand, but they were a different product line. The S7-300/400 replaced the S5 line, and the S7-200 replaced the Siemens-branded Koyo line.
As for S5 problems: The S5-115U was a big seller for Siemens, but any still in service will be pretty old by now. As the others have said, if it used to run fine but is now causing problems, then I would try swapping the power supply.
If that doesn't solve the problem, I have seen situations where noisy power systems caused problems with very expensive S5-115 systems while much cheaper PLCs had no problems at all. I wouldn't go down that route though until all the more obvious possibilities have been exhausted.
I believe you, I was busy with UNIX when that came about. I just thought I'd mention it since I have replaced GE (Koyo) units, TI, (Koyo) units and Siemens (Koyo) units with AD Koyo units. Actually it was kinda handy since I only needed one set of tools. I know they were old, because one option was to save the programs on audio tape (KC Standard)and you're not a youngster if you know what KC Standard means. My boss thought I'd lost it when I went rummage saling for an old enough cassette tape recorder. It did work on the second try, after adjusting the volume. We've come a long way since then. When you work with a dozen brands of PLCs, the nomenclature gets a bit fuzzy after a couple years off. Mea Culpa:^)
