Hi,

We produce a controler with Profibus DP interface, 12Mb, 60 input words and 13 output words. We want to test this device, read/write words.

1. We could buy a Siemens S7 PLC + SW
2. We could use a Profibus card for PC but then we can use only this PC. (Or move the card).

Any suggestion how to do is appreciated.

You could buy a Siemens PLC and software. Is that your personal choice for the hardware? There are other PLC options for Profibus masters if you have already have another PLC and software (Allen Bradley and SST for instance). Have you considered Profibus gateways? Pepperl+Fuchs offers a Profibus DP master simulator. It is perfect for your needs because it is a very small, inexpensive and a portable external device. Basically you need the software (free of charge with the master) and an RS-232 port. The model is VAZ-PB-SIM. As much as I love the suggestion of the Pepperl & Fuchs device, I would say buying an S7 is a requirement. It's the acid test; if it doesn't work with the S7, it won't work with anything.
