Okie, iam not that of an expert om Profibus FMS. Okie i do know the following

1) It is a network at the cell level.
2) Avg speed and max of 16 nodes on the cable.

Can you give memore technical details
1) What is the reason for not findin such networks used frequently?
2) Tech details? like speed, max length and the rest

Profibus FMS is more or less obsolete now and shouldn't be used for new projects.

It didn't achieve much popularity because its capabilities didn't match well with what most people really wanted to do. For simple co-ordination tasks, Profibus DP is adequate, while for easy communcation with MRP or ERP systems Profibus FMS is too limited.
