Does anybody know which one of these petrochemical careers let you work mostly in the shop environment instead of outdoor work. The ones I'm interested in are I&E tech, analyzer tech, measurement tech, automation tech.
I&E (Instrumentation and Electrical) technician is more likely to work in a shop environment than the other options. I&E technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation and electrical systems in a variety of industrial settings, including petrochemical plants. They may work in the field, but they also often work in a shop environment where they can fabricate and assemble equipment.
