Good Day All,

I want to ask dear list participants and readers, if any body has knowledge
about a radio active level measurement Detector that sends 4-20 mA signal to control room without the need to install additional Hardware in the field. I want to know which vendor can supply this type of HW!! The application is to measure level for Urea Solution application.

Hi – Yes – We don’t have a picture up yet – (in fact we have lots to do) but
a radio active system consists of a device clamped to one side of the pipe
or tank and a receiver to the other opposite side. It simply sends a R/A
wave thru the tank - usually in cement applications or bad fluid.
You would need a power supply – with 2 wire 4-20 heading to the control
room.

What is the tank Dia.? What is the tank material? What is the ambient
temperature? How far is the tank from the control room?

Price is high end.

You need to make the final decision but Urea only has a minor effect on 304
or 316 SS. What is the tank made from?

A more cost effective solution may be: A continuous transducer in
ether SS or PVDF / PP transducer with a 4-20 output.
Install it – needs only about a 10 VDC power supply and you get 4-20 2 wire
to the control. You can have a local reading or chart as well.

Also you could use our RVI (remote visual indicator)
or magnetic level gauge (flag type) mounted on the outside in
plastic.

So - what one do you want details on?

Several companies make a device as you requested. AC or DC power is applied with a 4-20mA output. All electronics to condition the detector signal are in a single enclosure mounted on the vessel.

One company that makes such a device is ThermoMeasureTech. You can check them out on the web.

Ohmart/VEGA has radio active continuous level control detectors that provide a continuous 4 to 20 madc output based upon vessel level. The 4 to 20 madc output is transmitted directly from the level detector to the control room. For additional information see the website at www.ohmartvega.com.
