There is a typical occurence in our plant where
the R computer of Mark V used as control system for a Frame-9E Gas Turbine is rebooting. There is no immediate danger as the S and T are OK. As a corrective measure we are removing the
connectors and applying a gel (recommended for cards). After that the problem subsides for some time, and again reverts back.

Did anyone come across such a problem? If so, please suggest corrective actions.

What Diagnostic Alarms are present before the condition occurs, and what Diagnostic Alarms are annunciated when the condition occurs?

Are there any Process Alarms which occur when the processor reboots?

 

We haved recently had the same issue with a HMI.
It turned out to be the 1500uF capacitors on the motherboard.

They looked ok, but on close inspection showed signs of bulging and leaking. Replacing all of them has cured the problem. Apparently these particular value of capacitors failing is a known problem.
