Read a bit from word

Hi all,

I am communicating citect 6.1 with Toshiba controller over OPC. Communication is working fine.

When i read some tags in Matricon OPC, data type is showing "Array of Booleans".

Now my questions are,

is it possible to read individual bit from this array of bits?

what will be data type when i read these kind of tags? i have tried to use BYTE data type, as these tags contains 8 different status, and tried to use BITAND in address field.
