We are planning to replace existing GE make electro-mechanical type relays (ANSI Codes: 32, 40, 46, 51V1, 51V2, 51V3, 51GN, 64F, 87G1, 87G2, 87G3 & 86G) for protection of 31375kVA GE generator with redundant multi function G60 Numerical relay. This generator provides power mainly to motor driving equipment of fertilizer plant. We have no redundant current/potential transformer so that we will utilize series current circuit for both relay. Should we install two G60 relays for protection of one generator? So that if one relay fails then we do not have to shutdown generator for replacement of malfunctioning relay? Does GE provides nowadays redundant G60 relays for protection of new generators?
